Recent Beach Cleanup and Poor Water Quality

During our recent beach cleanup at Paradise Park on Saturday, June 3rd, revealed plastic debris is still the number one litter left in the sand, the dunes, and walkways to the beach.  It was great seeing new faces who wanted to help clean up Paradise so that it continues to be paradise.  With the 14 volunteers, over 70 pounds of trash was collected.  Cigarette butts, glass bottles, plastic toys, and fish netting were also the bulk of the 70 pounds.

What can we do?  Continue to support our chapter in our monthly beach cleanups.  As you walk along the beach, pick up trash that you spot.  In some of the beach parks, there are buckets provided by Beach Bucket Foundation.  Get involved in your municipalities to reduce single use plastics and restrict smoking within the boundaries of public beaches and parks.  The beach and ocean is for everyone to enjoy.  Let's work together to keep it clean.
