Nina Hunt is our Chair and loves our ocean. She is passionate about keeping our beaches clean, and a Surfrider advocate for reducing plastic pollution. If she's not at the beach surfing, you can find her bringing the community together or teaching yoga.
Kris Baker is our team's outgoing Chair. She is very passionate about keeping our beaches and waterways healthy. Her enthusiasm compelled her to volunteer as chapter's Chair and previously our Blue Water Task Force Coordinator. She loves marine life, especially the manatees.
Joanie Reagan is a Member at Large, on the Ocean Friendly Restaurant task-force, and served six years as Secretary for the Cocoa Beach chapter. Being a long time Surfrider member, Joanie’s eagerness and commitment to the Surfrider mission is evident by her involvement in several conservation groups and Surfrider Space Coast.
Chris Smith is our Treasurer and keeps our budget balanced. Chris, originally from Jacksonville is an avid surfer and has been a member of Surfrider for 6+ years. Chris joined Surfrider because he loves the ocean and everything about it. Chris also coaches for Special Olympics Surfing, and he is one of our Beach Clean Up Captains.
Since 2010, Bill has led the Ocean Friendly Gardens initiative starting with the Sebastian Inlet Chapter, focusing on native plant restoration for water quality and biodiversity protection. Through collaborative efforts with various entities, he has successfully established native plant gardens across Brevard County. Facing challenges like water quality issues and habitat destruction, it's crucial to prioritize the restoration of Ocean Friendly Gardens on the Central East Coast. Living on a barrier island, Bill's committment to protecting marine ecosystems through surfing, beach activities, and Lagoon exploration remains steadfast.
Scott Maki is our Member at Large and loves surfing in our ocean. His appreciation for the ocean inspires our team. He is always there to help out and is one of our Beach Cleanup Captains.
Meet Pamela, our Beach Cleanup Coordinator - born in vibrant Puerto Rico and raised on the sun-soaked shores of Cocoa Beach, Florida. Growing up surrounded by the ocean's beauty, she developed a profound connection to the sea and a deep understanding of its importance to our planet. This lifelong bond has fueled her passion for preserving marine ecosystems and keeping our waters clean. Holding her breath is one of Pamela's favorite hobbies, whether it be freediving our beautiful springs or getting washed out by a set surfing on our amazing beaches. You can always find her by the water!
Joseph “JoJo” Toscano, our Member at Large, was born in South Florida and has been an avid surfer & skateboarder since he was just a little grommet. Growing up in Florida before moving to Hawaii at 22 years old, then to California, and then Australia before returning to live in Florida near his family in his 30’s, he has been an ocean advocate in lots of locations as well as a surf instructor in those same locations. JoJo is the founder of the Vintage Board Swap Syndicate, which hosts the annual Vintage Surf and Skate Board Show and Swap for five years running in Satellite Beach on Florida’s Space Coast.
He is actively involved in the local community and excited to help spread awareness about Surfrider and its many different programs and efforts to the local surf, skate, and community at large!!
Adam is our Blue Water Task Force Coordinator and coastal defender. He is a life long beach enthusiast, growing up surfing, sailing, and fishing in Ocean County, NJ. He is also a former Marine and veteran of operation Iraqi freedom sailing coach and diver. He has a deep passion for our coasts and waterways.
Janita, our Volunteer Coordinator, moved to the Space Coast in 2022 and is excited to be part of this community dedicated to protecting our coastal environment and marine life. A nature lover, she enjoys outdoor activities—especially with her dogs by her side, writing code, and meeting new people. She looks forward to seeing you at the next event!
Jacqueline Stats, an outdoor enthusiast, brings her commitment for preserving nature and cleaning our oceans to her role as Events Coordinator at Surfrider. In her passion for holistic health and mindfulness, she champions the interconnected well-being of people and the planet, striving to create a healthier future for all.
With over a decade of experience leading corporate events, private gatherings, and fundraising galas, she brings a refined touch to event management. Committed to fostering a cleaner, healthier environment, Jacqueline can often be found tending to her local beach, where she makes daily efforts to remove debris and honor the harmony of land and sea.
