The first annual Sun, Sand & Surf event, hosted by the Space Coast Surfrider Foundation at Cocoa Beach’s Lori Wilson Park, was a true celebration of community, conservation, and coastal appreciation!
On November 2nd, 2024, volunteers, surfers, and ocean enthusiasts gathered to enjoy a day packed with activities designed to protect and celebrate our beautiful coastline.
Starting bright and early, participants kicked off the day with a beach cleanup that filled six, 20-gallon bags with debris, showcasing the collective commitment to keeping Cocoa Beach clean. As volunteers worked together, the energy was high, fueled by a shared love for protecting our oceans.
Following the cleanup, attendees joined a free all-levels beach yoga session led by Gabrielle Adams from Equilibrium Movement, accompanied by the uplifting beats of local DJ Shewxlf.
The highlight of the day was the Surf Competition managed by Canaveral Surf, where surfers of all ages and skill levels competed in a playful contest, showing off their most unique poses to claim one of the top three spots.
Despite the rain, over ten surfers took to the waves, embodying the true spirit of Cocoa Beach’s surfing culture.
